The Clan Trust grant helps bring new life to Town Tots nursery garden

The Clan Trust is delighted to be supporting The Benjamin Foundation’s Town Tots Nursery Garden Project in North Walsham - an exciting transformation that will give local children a safe, inspiring space to play, learn, and grow.

For years, the garden at Town Tots has been a place of discovery for young children, but after so much use, it’s now showing its age. The planned redesign will breathe new life into the space, turning it into a sensory-rich sanctuary that encourages curiosity, creativity, and connection with nature. It will offer opportunities for physical, emotional, and social development, with features designed to support children with autism, sensory processing differences, and other additional needs. Quiet, calm areas will give space for reflection, while open and engaging areas will encourage active play and skill-building.

A key part of the new garden will focus on food growing and environmental care. Children will be able to plant seeds, nurture them, and enjoy healthy snacks from their own harvests - learning where food comes from and how to look after the world around them. For families without access to outdoor space at home, this garden will provide experiences that are essential to early years development and wellbeing.

“We are grateful for the support of the Clan Trust, as we help children’s physical well-being through our improved garden and outdoor space, as well as feeding children’s curiosity with dedicated vegetable patches.”
– Jane, Town Tots Manager

The Clan Trust’s grant is helping The Benjamin Foundation move closer to making this project a reality. Once complete, the garden will be a place where children can explore in all seasons, return home with muddy hands and bright smiles, and build memories that last a lifetime.

We’re proud to be part of this project and look forward to seeing it flourish in the months ahead.
